It's not everyday you read about a thirteen year old who had more drama going on in her life than a grown woman! I immediately felt for Mya from the very beginning when her and her sister Laurel watched their mother Liz get beaten by Big Mike. Little did I know, that was just the beginning of this book.It disheartening to see how real abuse is and how it effects EVERYONE in the family differently. Mya was obviously used to her mother being beaten so when she ran across Kyle she really thought that his abuse was love. I literally hated Kyle and there were times where I wanted to snatch Mya up myself and tell her that there's was more to life and tell her that there were better men out there. That poor girl went through a lot and he treated her like gum on the bottom of his shoe. There were several times in this book that I wished My a would just RUN from Kyle and possibly date Lord (yes that's the name of one of the characters) or better yet, not date anyone at all. My favorite character was Laurel who caught me by surprise several times. At first I thought she was a straight square but I quickly learned that she don't play about her baby sister. Laurel came out the bag on 'em a couple of times and had me rooting for her lol! I was really happy that at least one of the three of Liz's kids found happiness. Laurel and Loyalty kept me going. Their romance was so cute and pure.I am giving this book four stars because with just a little bit of content editing this easily be a 5 Star banger. Although there are a few hot and cold spots in this book, I enjoyed the ride and am anxious to read part 2 because I know this story can only get juicier.

Too many young girls go through this and feel like they have to stay. It's so crazy how many emotions are shown throughout this story. Love. Pain. Betrayal. Hurt. Infatuation. Lust. Loyalty. Respect. Discomfort. The list goes on. This was well written and touched on real life.
This story was crazy and twisted but i loved it. It showed that even if your family is messed up you can still succeed. Mya is a good girl but because no one ever really said i love you to her the monute kyle said it she was his. Kyle knew that all he had to say was those 3 little words to get mya to do whatever he wanted. Mya wanted out but was brainwashed by kyles "love for her". Im proud of laurel doing what she needed to do for her future but feel bad for mya and liz because it was mike jr who nessed up liz's life and now she took out her anger on her children. This story was so juicy and tense and i loved every minute every page of it. I hope kyle and Liz gets whats coming for them.
This book will definitely get your emotions involved. Reading this story brought me to tears. This home is so broken. When the man of the family didn't do right by his wife and kids everyone seems to suffer one way or another. I couldn't stand the mom who became bitter and my heart ached for poor Mya the youngest sibling. I need Kyle to suffer for all the pain he's caused. Love doesn't hurts and the message is clear as day in this book. Love the book and ready for the sequel!!
I was annoyed how stupid Maya was but I loved Laurel's character. I loved Loyalty's & Laurel's relationship, they really loved each other. I could have killed Kyle for the way he treated Maya. The Apple doesn't fall from the tree because she was just like her Mother Liz. Mike was a Great Big Brother, very overprotective. Destiny was a Loyal Friend, I loved her character & she was very smart too. I believe that's why her boyfriend adored her. Maya just did whatever Kyle told her to do(A Real Pushover) that really irritated me.

This author is in need of a good writing course and a basic spelling course, as well! Many misspelled words and a lack of sentence structure, make this book difficult to read.
The storyline is not interesting. It's a story about a naive girl, playing grown-up, and be abused by her adult boyfriend. Mya is not a sympathetic character, she's not very likable. In fact, the only decent character appears to be Loyalty. He's a man who seems to truly care about Mya and her sister, Laurel.
I will not be reading part 2 as I have no interest in how this story ends.
I gave this novel five stars because the author makes the characters and situations come alive as if you are watching a movie. The main character Mya is young and naive and in a relationship where she is being mentally, physically, and basically sexually abused by her "boyfriend" Kyle. Through out this novel as different characters were introduced, they all had different issues and situations but one thing they all had in common was their concern for the unhealthy relationship their friend Mya was in. This novel did have grammar errors but I was able to understand what the author was trying to get across. My main reason for giving this novel 5 stars is because it tells a story of an abusive reality that many women live every day. I recommend this novel to those who enjoy reading urban literature. I will be purchasing the second novel in this series.
